Meet Mrs. Lenora Chapman

Lenora Chapman, MA, MFT-T

Welcome! My name is Lenora Chapman. I am a native of Cleveland, OH and I have been raised in Columbus, OH since the age of 11. My career began long before I realized how vital self care is, or how important both personal and intrapersonal relationship boundaries are in our everyday lives.

Growing up, my mom raised me and my older sister as a single parent. I watched my mom sacrifice every single day and work harder than the next person. She never sacrificed giving us her absolute best in any decision she made. Although I grew up with many unanswered questions I always had a sense of purpose to help others. The conscious choice my dad made to not take an active part in my life turned into the greatest blessing. The apex for me was looking at the degree of self-sacrifice, the intensity of purpose, and the exploration of what it means to push beyond borders in my own life. I’ve assessed my own family history in relation to what has been handed down to me from my mom, grandparents, great-grandparents and so on. Our drive and determination has always been forged by fire and I always say, “I am constantly learning from the best!”

Why MFT?

Academically, I was divided in pursuing my graduate degree in clinical psychology or Marriage and Family therapy (MFT). For years I took time to pursue what it means to truly live. I have been employed at a BMV, assisted living facilities, restaurants, daycare centers and schools for children/adolescents with developmental disabilities early in my career path. There are identifying strengths and weaknesses that I gained from such a diverse beginning.Mahatma Gandhi said, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” It is my experience that change begins with understanding the need for personal transparency. The constant mission I have is to create a safe space by creating an open forum to explore having made mistakes, learn from our mistakes and teach others from our experience. The field of MFT is a dynamic field and because we are each an extension of a bigger story- it is that essential element, which has highlighted this platform for me here at OhioMFT, LLC. The varying degrees of individual, couple and family dynamics are in fact what makes each of us special! I count it a pleasure to meet you and I look forward to working alongside you.
